“I am fascinated by the way light and
shadow, color and form can transform
the material world into optical illusion
so that it feels as though we are
moving weightlessly through a dream.”
Sandra Cattaneo Adorno
I. Águas de Ouro II. Scarti di Tempo
Catalogue and invitation designed for Sandra Cattaneo Adorno’s show at the Venice Bienniale. Sandra’s work explores the relationship between photography and memory, flickering and flowing in the space that lies between fantasy and reality.
The work Águas de Ouro (Portuguese for “waters of gold”) and Scarti di Tempo, (meaning both “time discrepancy” and “scraps of time.”) are presented in a loose bound format that can be taken apart and rearranged, building new compositions. The dust jacket’s semi transparent material adds another layer of mystery, of being close and yet far from reach. Sandra’s striking silhouettes from Águas de Ouro are printed in gold ink on a black dyed stock and in contrast Scarti di Tempo is produced in full rich colour on a coated stock.
